Esta obra aborda los procesos de construcción de las identidades docentes de profesores que laboran en la Unidad 097 de la Universidad Pedagógica Nacional en la Ciudad de México. Mediante relatos de vida, los profesores se definen como docentes; es decir, se dan cuenta de quiénes son, de la labor que realizan con sus alumnos –maestros de educación básica en servicio– y del ámbito institucional en el que se desarrollan profesionalmente. Los relatos que construyen permiten conocer el entramado de referentes con los que elaboran esas percepciones sobre sí mismos y sobre el desempeño de su trabajo académico; posibilitan comprender, además, por qué precisamente esos referentes y no otros han contribuido a conformar su identidad profesional.

This book addresses the teaching identity building process within a group of professors working at the National Pedagogical University - more specifically at the Unit 097 South DF. The main objective of this paper is to understand how these individuals build their profesional identity as well as which institutional referents are built. Such referents will be analyzed to identify what interpellates them and how they impact on the shaping identity process from their own perspective. In other words, not only getting back their own subjectivity but also keeping the singular institutional context in which their educative practices are fitted in.
Professional identity constitutes a complex constantly building phenomenon formed by several processes such as the identification, interpellation, socialization and social recognition besides diverse institutional elements in the individual’s history and personality. Hence, this book will try to account for the concrete components that constitute this phenomenon. In order to accomplish this goal, this research will emphasize the combination of the biography, academical background, institutional history and the sociohistorical events in the creation of the mentioned before identity.
